Aviation & Handicaps symposium

Organised by "Ile-de-France"

Light Aviation

People with disabilities can become pilots of light aircraft. The number of such pilots is already substantial, and is set to grow, thanks to improvements in auxiliary environments designed to take account of hearing or speech difficulties, poor eyesight and reduced mobility (lower limbs). Current developments in technology, regulations, training and aeronautical medicine are all the more encouraging in that they open up virtuous avenues for the pilots concerned, as well as enabling us to envisage secondary means of safety for all pilots.

The October 7, 2025 event, organized by the Aéro-Club de France (Commission des Pilotes Handicapés), FANS4ALL (an association for pilots with hearing or speech difficulties) and 3AF (Commission Aviation Légère et Machine Dérivées), will provide an overview of current initiatives to address the three types of disability mentioned in the introduction. The panel of speakers and the solutions proposed show that taking these issues into account can now be the result of a convergence in the motivations of various institutions: associations, private companies, the academic world, state institutions. This is a strong encouragement, marking the shared conviction that innovations for the disabled bear the seeds of innovations for society as a whole.
